Meet Denise Green – A Passionate Quilter

Welcome to the HollyDee Quilts website.  I am Denise Green, and I am a quilter!  I enjoy all aspects of quilting but consider myself the CEO at HollyDee Quilts.  CEO is for “Chief Encouragement Officer”  I love teaching and sharing my love for quilting and making handcrafted items.  Watching students progress through the quilting process brings me great joy.  I made my first quilts in 1995 and have immersed myself from that time.  As a certified Judy Niemeyer Instructor I have had the opportunity to work with students all across the US.

In 2016 we embarked on the biggest quilting adventure, we opened a brick and mortar shop in Luling, TX.  (South Central TX, just south of Austin, east of San Antonio and west of Houston).  We enjoy visiting with quilters from all over the world as they head to our town for some of the best BBQ in the state.  We love our small town and hope you will too!

Our most current shop hours are posted on our home page.  We can also accommodate early/late arrivals if you won’t be arriving during open hours – just give us a call! 830-875-5432. Note: As of 3/23/20, until further notice, the shop is not open regular hours due to COVID-19. We will continue with our limited hours and social distancing rules in the shop until COVID-19 is under control. Visit our home page for our most up-to-date store hours.

Our first 20 years in TX were in the Clearlake area, I joined the Lakeview Quilters Guild. Through the guild, I am honored to have collaborated on many projects with other members, including Cynthia England and Susan H. Garman. I also served on numerous committees and board positions with the guild including two terms as President of the guild and as Quilt Show Chair for 2 very successful shows.

In 1999 I bought my first long-arm quilting machine and after practicing for many years I was asked to quilt several of the quilts for Cynthia England’s book, Picture Piecing Traditional Quilts. The quilt shown to the left is Cynthia’s Windswept Roses quilt, which is one I quilted for her. The detail of the quilt and my quilting is shown above. This beautiful book by Cynthia is available on the Books page of our store.
