BIB’s

Nope – no babies here.  We are talking BIB’s as in insulation aka “blown in batts”.  I mentioned in my post yesterday that the insulation installers were at our home on the 4th of July to install the insulation.  We had upgraded from standard batts of insulation to BIB’s for our new home.  This increases the R factor by some number known to my husband and we decided to spend a little more here and enjoy the savings in the years ahead.  Some of you may ask why we did not choose the “spray” insulation as it also has a very high R factor.  The reason for this is, IF/WHEN you have water intrusion in your home you may not have the early warning signs that would allow you to mitigate the problem quickly and efficiently AND tracing the origination of the intrusion is made very difficult with the “spray” insulation.  I consider my husband the resident expert of “why” things fail and how to quickly acknowledge, track down and correct these failures I 100% back his decision.  (I am charge of color and other fun stuff!)  After the storms in the Luling area the last few days I am happy to know IF/WHEN we have an issue it will be easier to track down and correct.

So here are some quick photos of the insulation installation…….

A special thank you to our neighbor Lilly for inspecting the insulation on Saturday to be sure we had not had water intrusion where the roof is not quite done being shingled.  She saved Corey 6 hours in the car on a Holiday Weekend Sunday!

Green’s Acres is the Place for Kids (and Me!)

When I see the smiling faces on the grandkids I can’t help but sing (to myself!) Green Acre’s is the Place for Me!

Kids need space to play…….

They need to be able to explore in nature and just play in the dirt!

And if they happen to have a Grandpa with a tractor – then they can also drive a tractor!

They also helped DeeDee (me) pick up trash a never-ending battle!  It was so funny – she said she would help but she needed a pointy stick so she could just poke the trash and put it in the bag!  They toured the house several times, guessing what room is what and of course made mud pies!

Waiting for the 4-way inspection, then the framing walk through with the builder, then sheetrock arrives while the exterior starts getting painted etc etc etc.

Grandpa Gets a New Toy!

Hubby’s birthday was earlier this month and he got to pick out his present!  And let me tell you he is just like a kid with a new toy!

I had not seen the progress on our home for 2 weeks so it was fun to walk around – but I spent more time visiting with future neighbors than taking photos.  Lilly and David were at their property adding to their pile of fire wood.  Lonnie stopped by on his ATV while his wife was out horseback riding in the neighborhood.  Pat and Joni stopped on their way home from a Sunday matinee, she said Million Dollar Arm is the best film she has seen in a long time and she looks forward to seeing it again!  And while grandpa was running the tractor the Red Horned Deer that resemble elk went running between our property and the neighbors a couple of times.

Looking forward to a long weekend coming up.  I teach on Saturday (check out my schedule on the left for where and when I will be in your area), then we will head to the property with a couple of chain saws and hopefully a lot of ambition!

Have a great week!
