As a certified Judy Niemeyer Instructor I often teach “Stars” classes. Quiltworx (aka Judy Niemeyer) has designed some of the most beautiful star quilts out there and I always love to see a students color choices and watch the progress of their quilts.
Fran had paper pieced before, but had not ventured into a Judy Niemeyer pattern. She chose to make Prairie Star which is a beautiful quilt. Having helped my daughter-in-law through making this quilt a few years ago I was able to guide Fran through the process and I love love love how her quilt turned out. She had asked me to not post photos until after our local quilt show and that was last weekend so now I get to post post post.
Fran is from Kansas and is a prairie girl at heart, I am sure the quilt name called to her. I love how she changed up the name just a little for her quilt, from Prairie Star to Star of the Prairie. I also love how Fran can take those colors that really throw in to the mix without a lot of companion fabrics and with a little bit of magic make them fabulous. Her sense of color is awesome!
